The Merrillville Community Planetarium presents Eclipse: Dance of Shadow and Light, a public program beginning on July 7 and continuing through July 22. The show will be presented on Friday, July 7, 14, and 21, and Saturday, July 15 and 22 at 7:30 p.m. Additional showings may be added if needed. The planetarium opens for seating 30 minutes before the show begins. No one will be admitted after the program starts.

On August 21, 2017, a total solar eclipse will be visible over the United States. This is the first total solar eclipse over the 48 contiguous states since 1979. From Northwest Indiana, just under 90% of the sun will be covered by the moon. Learn about eclipses and how to safely observe this rare event.

Admission to public programs is $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for children. Seating is limited and should be reserved by calling (219) 650-5486 or here on the web site. Large groups can arrange for a private show by calling the planetarium at (219) 650-5486.

This is our final public program for the 2016-2017 school year. Our next public show will be in October 2017. The planetarium is located in Clifford Pierce Middle School at 199 East 70th Avenue in Merrillville, Indiana. Please park and enter on the west side of the building.
