The Merrillville Community Planetarium is part of the Merrillville Community School Corporation, a K-12 public school system in Northwest Indiana. The Planetarium is located in Clifford Pierce Middle School. We provide programming for Merrillville classes, outside groups, and the public.

  • 1895 - Charles Marvin began experimenting with a kite called a meteorograph for routine use at the Weather Bureau.
  • 1898 - First Weather Bureau kite was launched from Topeka, Kansas. By year's end, 16 weather stations were taking daily stats.
